SERVING KINGSTON UPON THAMES, KT1 AND KT2
Kingston Upon Thames Removals, Riverside To Coombe
For house removals, flat removals and office removals in Kingston upon Thames, Elephant Removals plans the move around the property and the street, from riverside loading in the town centre to tighter residential access in Coombe. Kingston’s parking controls run on different clocks, so we check the zone and your moving date before planning the load.
REMOVALS IN KINGSTON
Moving In Kingston, Zone By Zone
Most moves here fail on timing rather than distance. Which side of Richmond Road you live on decides how long the van is allowed to stand outside.
Zone A1 covers central Kingston and runs to 10.30pm Monday to Saturday, plus Sunday evenings. A vehicle cannot idle outside a Thameside block while a goods lift is booked out. Fifteen minutes north, the Canbury outer streets around Dinton Road and Bockhampton Road are controlled only between 10am and 3pm on weekdays, so the shape of the day inverts.
That is what the survey settles. A four-bed off Richmond Park Road and a converted second floor above Clarence Street are both a full house removal on the booking form, but one has a driveway and the other has a timed bay, a lift key and a concierge to clear. We size the crew from access, not bedroom count. Smaller flat moves across London get the same walk-through.
AREAS COVERED
Areas We Cover In Kingston Upon Thames
Six pockets of Kingston, six different loading problems. What changes between them is the hour you are allowed to stand, not the mileage.
Kingston Town Centre
Zone A1 holds until 10.30pm six days a week. Riverside blocks off Thameside load through a booked goods lift, not the kerb.
Canbury And Riverside
Elm Grove runs town centre hours, but Dinton Road and Wyndham Road open at 10am and close at 3pm. Two plans, one postcode.
Norbiton And Coombe Road
Zone N holds central streets to 6.30pm while outer area B releases at 3pm. The Coombe Road shops back up on the school run.
Kingston Hill KT2
Zone H runs 8.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday. Edwardian villas sit back behind gravel on a steep approach, so we walk it first.
Coombe Hill Estates
Private roads off Coombe Lane West carry their own gate rules and weight limits. We confirm access with the estate office before the day.
Surbiton And Berrylands
Zone S opens at 8am, and Cottage Grove is permit holders only until 10.30pm daily, which rules out an evening man and van service.
HOUSING STOCK AND ACCESS
Riverside Flats And Coombe Villas
Kingston housing splits four ways, and each one fails differently when the survey skips a measurement or a booking gets missed.
Town Centre Riverside Apartments
Charter Quay, Bishops Wharf and the Thameside blocks run booked goods lifts and managed loading areas. The slot is usually an hour, released to whoever asked first.
We book the lift and the bay when you confirm the date, then build the pack-down so heavy items go first. If the slot slips, we shuttle from the bay.
Canbury And Norbiton Terraced Homes
Victorian terraces off Canbury Park Road and Gibbon Road have hall widths that stop a three-seat sofa short of the door, and rear returns too tight for a wardrobe.
We measure the hall and the turn at survey. Anything that will not clear comes apart, or goes out through the bay window on straps.
Detached Houses On Coombe Estates
The Coombe private roads carry weight limits, gate codes and, in places, no through route for a full-size Luton. A seven-tonne vehicle can be turned at the entrance.
We check with the managing agent and run a shuttle to the door if the road will not take the vehicle. Full and partial packing goes in the day before.
New Build Handovers In Norbiton
The Cambridge Road Estate rebuild began handing over homes at Daisy Court in May 2026, and later phases run to thirteen storeys. Handover dates move.
We hold the booking rather than cancel it, and agree the loading bay with the developer’s team. If keys land late, we plan a split load instead of a rushed one.
PERMITS AND LOADING
Parking Suspensions And Loading Access In Kingston
A removal van cannot use a resident permit, so on almost every Battersea street the van needs a suspended bay or it needs to be somewhere else.
Kingston does not set a hard minimum notice period the way most London boroughs do. It prices the suspension by how much warning you give it. For the exact rules, see the Kingston parking suspension guidance.
The Royal Borough charges by the day for each five-metre space, and the rate steps up if the application lands inside a week of the start date. Town centre zones A and A1 sit in a higher band than everywhere else in the borough.
- No fixed minimum notice, but the fee band changes at one week, so we tell you at survey whether to apply early or accept the later rate.
- Charged per day for each five-metre bay, at a higher rate inside zones A and A1. Weekend days you do not need are not charged.
- The council can place the suspended bay up to 75 metres from the address you asked for, which turns a straight load into a shuttle run.
- Suspensions starting within five days cannot go through the online form, so a short-notice completion needs a call to the parking line.

WHY ELEPHANT REMOVALS
A Removals Team Serving Kingston
We Read The Zone First
Kingston enforces street by street, so we check the zone and its hours during the survey. The quote reflects the load window you actually have, not an assumed one.
Surveys Before Prices
We quote after we have walked the property, measured the halls and confirmed the lift. If access changes on the day, you hear about it before the invoice, not after.
Moves Are Insured
One person takes the survey, files the paperwork and answers the telephone on the day itself. Nobody needs briefing twice at eight on the morning of the move.
Based In SW London Since 2003
We have been running crews across South West London for over twenty years, and Kingston sits inside our regular working patch. More about who we are.

Common Questions
Kingston Removals FAQs
It depends on volume, access and how long the load window is, so we price after a survey, not off a room count. A riverside flat with a booked lift slot and a Coombe house with a gravel drive need different crews. Tell us about the move and we will arrange one.
All of it. Kingston town centre, Canbury and the riverside, Norbiton and Coombe Road, Kingston Hill, the Coombe Hill estates, and Surbiton and Berrylands. We also run into Ham, New Malden and Kingston Vale, since the vehicles are already in the borough.
Often, yes, and Kingston is unusual in setting no fixed minimum notice. The fee band changes at one week ahead, and anything starting inside five days goes through the council parking line rather than the online form. We tell you at survey whether your street needs one.
The route starts and finishes in the Ancient Market Place and crosses Kingston Bridge, so the town centre goes to closures for most of that Sunday morning. We check the event calendar before confirming a date, and shift the start time if your address sits on the course.
Yes. Term-time moves around Penrhyn Road, Knights Park and the Kingston Hill campus are a regular run for us, including one room out of a shared house while the other tenants stay put. Our term-time moves are priced hourly.
We book the goods lift and the loading bay with building management when you confirm the date, not on the morning. Slots at Charter Quay and the Thameside blocks are typically an hour, so the pack-down puts heavy items through first and shuttles the rest.
Tell us as soon as you know and we will look at moving the booking. Handover dates on the Cambridge Road Estate phases have moved before. If keys land late we can split the load, or hold the contents in secure London storage overnight.
Yes, and it is a common run from this part of the borough. Families leaving Coombe and Kingston Hill for Surrey, Hampshire and the South West book long-distance moves out of London with us, planned as a single load with a fixed delivery window.
