Removals in Fulham, Covering SW6 Houses, Flats and Mansion Blocks
Fulham fits very different homes into one SW6 stretch of London. A move out of a Lion House on the Peterborough Estate is nothing like one from a mansion flat near Fulham Broadway or a riverside apartment at Imperial Wharf, and the kerb outside each behaves differently on the day. Elephant Removals has moved households and businesses across Fulham and the wider Hammersmith and Fulham borough since 2003. Tell us the two postcodes, the floor at each end and your date, and we plan the access, parking and crew around your street rather than a standard price list.
Local Knowledge
Moving in Fulham Is About Access, Not Mileage
Most moves here are short in distance and long in logistics. The homes are period terraces, red brick mansion blocks and converted flats, sitting on controlled parking streets where the front door is rarely far from a permit bay that belongs to someone else. What stands between the van and the hallway decides how the day runs far more than the miles between your two addresses.
That is what a generic London quote tends to miss. A terrace on a wide Peterborough Estate road and a second floor flat off Munster Road price the same on a mileage calculator, yet one has a garden path and a clear run to the van while the other has a shared stair, no lift and a yellow line outside. We quote from the access at both ends, so the figure holds.
Areas We Cover
The SW6 Pockets We Cover, From Parsons Green to Sands End
Fulham is a set of distinct neighbourhoods rather than one place, and each behaves differently when a van turns up. A quiet ladder street off Fulham Palace Road and a matchday afternoon on the Fulham Road are two very different moving days in the same postcode.
Peterborough Estate & Stokenchurch Street
The red brick Lion Houses south of the New King’s Road are handsome but tall, with three and four storeys of stairs and a front garden to carry over. Streets like Stokenchurch Street sit under a parking zone, so a bay at the door means a suspension booked ahead, not a space to rely on finding.
Parsons Green & Eel Brook Common
The streets around the green and Eel Brook Common fill up fast near the pubs and District line station. Permit bays dominate and weekend space is scarce, so a van left to chance ends up a long carry from the door.
The Alphabet Streets & Fulham Palace Road
The ladder of streets off the west side of Fulham Palace Road holds larger family houses with generous gardens, popular with movers upsizing from Parsons Green. They are roomy inside, but the main road is a busy through route, so we load from the quieter side streets.
Munster Village & Wardo Avenue
North of the Fulham Road, Munster Village is Victorian and Edwardian terraces, many now split into flats. Streets like Wardo Avenue are narrow, parking is tight, and upper floor flats mean a stair carry with no lift, so we measure the turn beforehand.
Sands End & Wandsworth Bridge Road
East of Wandsworth Bridge Road, Sands End mixes older Victorian terraces with newer riverside blocks near Imperial Wharf. The period homes hide awkward internal stairs, while the riverside apartments come with concierge desks, goods lifts and booking windows to arrange ahead.
Fulham Broadway & Moore Park
Around Fulham Broadway you find red brick mansion blocks with communal stairs and no lift, alongside the white stucco houses of the Moore Park Estate. With Stamford Bridge and Craven Cottage close by, a home game can close roads and swallow parking, so dates are worth checking against the fixtures.
Property And Access
Period Terraces and Mansion Flats: Two Different Moves
Period terraces and narrow staircases
The Victorian and Edwardian houses across the area were built for different furniture. Staircases wind, half landings are tight, and a modern corner sofa often will not go up the way it came out of the showroom. We measure the stairwell, the turn and the doorways before the date, so we know what dismantles and what is hoisted through a window. Where a piece will not go up at all, you hear it in advance, not on the day.
Mansion blocks with communal stairs
The red brick mansion flats around Fulham Broadway and Bishops Park share one entrance and stair with every resident, and most predate lifts. A move that blocks the only stair is a problem for the whole building. We agree timings with the porter or managing agent, protect the communal floors and bannisters, and run the carry so neighbours are not shut out. Where the block sets move hours, we work inside them.
Riverside and new build apartments
Newer developments near Imperial Wharf come with concierge desks, service lifts and loading bays shared across the building. The lift is often bookable only in set slots, and some agents want proof of cover before releasing it. We book the goods lift window, confirm the loading bay with the building team and bring the paperwork the concierge asks for, so nothing is held at the front desk.
Converted and garden flats
Toward Wandsworth Bridge Road and across Sands End, many terraces are now flats, including lower ground and garden flats reached by area steps. The internal access is rarely straight, and low ceilings limit what moves in one piece. We plan the carry route through the flat, protect floors and doorframes, and break down and rebuild larger furniture where the route demands it.
Parking And Permits
Parking Bay Suspensions in Hammersmith & Fulham
Almost all of Fulham sits inside a controlled parking zone, so a removal van cannot simply wait in a resident bay outside your door. Where there is no legal place for the van within a workable carry, the answer is a parking bay suspension from Hammersmith and Fulham Council, which reserves the space and marks it with a yellow notice. The council asks for at least eight days’ notice for a standard house move suspension, and counts Saturdays and Sundays as part of that period, so a last minute application often will not clear in time.
Points that catch people out on a Fulham move:
- Notice is counted in calendar days including the weekend, not working days, so an eight day lead time can mean applying nearly a fortnight before a Monday move.
- The application and payment have to reach the council by midday on the first day of the notice period, or the clock starts again.
- A resident permit or visitor voucher lets you park, but it does not reserve a space, and it will not hold a length of kerb for a van.
- Larger jobs needing more bays or more days move into longer notice brackets, so the van count matters when you book.
We handle this for you. Once your date is set we work out how many bays the van needs, apply to the council on your behalf and keep the reference so the crew arrives to a reserved, signed kerb rather than a gamble.

Why Elephant Removals
Why Book Elephant Removals for Your Fulham Move
Established in 2003
More than twenty years moving households across west and south west London, including Fulham's terraces and mansion blocks. It is why we ask about the stair turn and half landing before the day, not on it.
Access sorted before the date
We do the unglamorous work up front: the parking suspension to Hammersmith and Fulham, the porter or managing agent call, and a check of the route at both ends. The move is planned before the van is loaded.
Insured moves
Your belongings are covered in transit, and we bring the cover documents that riverside concierges and managing agents often ask to see before they release a goods lift or loading bay.
Flexible to the job
Full pack, part pack, or crew and van only. Single items through to whole houses, and dates that flex around a Fulham chain or a fixture at Stamford Bridge or Craven Cottage.

Common Questions
Fulham Removals FAQs
Usually, yes. Most of Fulham is a controlled parking zone, so a van cannot hold a resident bay outside your door. For a clear space we apply to Hammersmith and Fulham Council for a bay suspension, which needs at least eight days’ notice with weekends counted. We arrange it for you once your date is confirmed.
Yes. These tall period houses are a regular job for us. We plan for three or four storeys of stairs, the front garden carry and the controlled parking, and we measure larger items against the staircase beforehand so nothing is a surprise on the day.
We do both. That ranges from family houses on the Alphabet Streets and Peterborough Estate to mansion flats near Fulham Broadway and converted flats around Sands End, including upper floor moves where there is no lift.
We cover SW6 across Parsons Green, Sands End, Munster Village, the Peterborough and Moore Park estates, Bishops Park and Fulham Broadway, plus the riverside developments near Imperial Wharf and the neighbouring parts of the Hammersmith and Fulham borough.
Yes. We agree timings with the porter or managing agent, protect the communal stairs and hallway, and carry by hand where there is no lift. Where the block sets move hours or wants insurance documents first, we work to those rules.
Yes. We relocate offices and commercial premises along the Fulham Road, New King’s Road and the wider area, out of hours where it keeps disruption down, with the same planning around parking and building access as a home move.
