An upright piano can weigh over 250kg. Getting it up or down a flight of stairs, around a landing, or through a turn on a Victorian staircase takes careful planning. We need to know the number of flights, how wide the staircase is, and whether there are any tight corners or half-landings.
Doorways, Hallways And Corridors
Standard London doorways are around 760mm wide. A standard upright piano is roughly 1,500mm wide. That means the piano usually needs to go through on its side or at an angle. Measure the narrowest point between the piano's current position and the front door, and again at the delivery address.
Flats And Building Access
Moving a piano from a flat involves shared entrances, corridors, and potentially a goods lift. Some lifts in London apartment blocks are too small for a piano, which means the stairs are the only option. Check whether the building requires advance notice or has specific hours for deliveries.
Parking And Loading
