Commercial Removals London

Commercial removals in London run on tighter margins than house moves. A loading bay booking that lapses, a managed building that won’t allow weekend access, or stock that needs temperature control between sites — our crews deal with these complications across every type of business premises in the capital.

What's included

What a Business Move With Elephant Covers

A commercial move is a logistics job, not just a lifting job. Stock has to be tracked, equipment has to arrive working, and somebody has to know exactly which desk goes in which room at seven on a Monday morning. That is the difference between general removals and proper commercial movers. Here is what our business removals service in London includes as standard.

Site survey and written move plan

We walk both premises, note access and lift restrictions, and agree a running order before anything is quoted

Crates, packing materials and labelling

Reusable crates for files and desk contents, colour-coded by room or department so unpacking is quick

Dismantling and reassembly

Desks, workstations, shelving, display units, partitions and workbenches taken down and rebuilt on site

Protected loading, transport and unloading

Trained crews and vehicles sized to the job, with floor and lift protection fitted at both ends

Placement to your floor plan

Everything positioned where your plan says it goes, not stacked in the middle of the room for you to sort out

Who we move

The Kinds of Business We Relocate

“Commercial” covers an enormous amount of ground in London. A twelve-desk agency in Shoreditch and a restaurant kitchen in Clapham are both commercial moves, and almost nothing about them is the same. Our teams work across the full range of business premises in the city.

Offices and workspaces

Desks, chairs, monitors, filing, meeting room furniture and the contents of a hundred pedestal drawers. Serviced offices, co-working suites and whole floors alike.

Retail units and showrooms

Shopfittings, gondola shelving, rails, mannequins, till counters and stock. We work around trading hours or move you overnight so the shutters go up on time.

Restaurants, cafés and bars

Tables, banquette seating, back-bar fittings, prep counters and cold units. Gas and electrical appliances need disconnecting by your own qualified engineer first — we handle everything from there.

Warehouses and workshops

Racking, workbenches, tooling, palletised stock and light machinery. Usually a phased move, so the operation keeps running while the transfer happens.

Clinics, salons and consulting rooms

Treatment couches, styling chairs, reception furniture and lockable record storage. Patient and client files are moved sealed and stay sealed until they reach the new site.

Studios, galleries and creative spaces

Lighting rigs, plan chests, framed work, props and equipment cases. Awkward shapes and fragile pieces that need proper crating rather than a blanket and hope.

By business size

Business Moves of Every Size

The number of people you employ is the fastest way to gauge what a move will need. These are the patterns we see most often across London.

1–10

Small businesses and startups

Small studios, serviced office suites, single retail units and home-based businesses stepping into their first premises.

10–30

Growing businesses

Full floors, larger shops and workshops. Enough furniture and equipment that crate hire and proper labelling start to pay for themselves.

30+

Larger premises

Multi-floor offices, big warehouses and sites with restricted loading windows. This is where the move plan matters more than the muscle.

Phased

Multi-site and phased moves

Consolidating two premises into one, or relocating department by department over several weekends so the business never fully stops.

Not sure which of these your move looks like? Tell us the headcount and the two postcodes — that is usually enough to start.

Before you commit to a date

Planning a Commercial Move in London

Building access and loading bays

This trips up more London commercial moves than anything else. Managed buildings in the City, Canary Wharf and the West End typically want a booked loading bay slot, a goods lift reservation, and a copy of your remover's public liability cover lodged with building management in advance. Some give you a two-hour window and nothing more. Ask your building manager for the move-in policy at both ends as soon as you have heads of terms, and send it to us — we will build the plan around it.

Out-of-hours and weekend moves

Most businesses we move do not move on a Tuesday afternoon. Evenings and weekends cost you far less in lost trading than a weekday shutdown does, and plenty of landlords insist on it anyway. A Friday evening start with a Sunday finish gives your team a normal Monday. We schedule commercial moves outside working hours as a matter of routine.

IT equipment and servers

We move computers, monitors, printers and comms hardware, packed properly and kept upright. What we do not do is disconnect and reconnect your network — that should be your IT provider, and they should be on site at both ends. Book them for the same window you book us. Back everything up beforehand, and photograph the cabling at the back of anything you want rebuilt exactly as it was.

Congestion Charge, ULEZ and parking

If either premises sits inside the Congestion Charge zone, that is a real cost and it belongs in the quote rather than on an invoice afterwards. Ours goes in upfront. Where there is no loading bay, a suspended parking bay outside the door usually needs applying for through the borough a week or two ahead.

Established in 2003

More than twenty years of moving businesses and households across London. That experience is mostly invisible until something goes sideways — a lift out of service, a bay double-booked, a route closed. Knowing what to do next is the whole job.

Why Elephant Removals

Why Choose Elephant Removals for Your Office Move?

Moving London businesses since 2003

Over 23 years working across the city, which mostly shows up in the unglamorous details: knowing which buildings insist on out-of-hours access, how long a Victorian conversion staircase really adds to a job, and why the last Friday of the month is the worst possible date to book.

Fully insured moves

Your equipment, stock and furniture are covered from the moment we start loading to the moment everything is placed. Moving anything of unusually high value? Flag it at survey and we will confirm the cover in writing before you book.

One point of contact

You deal with the same person from survey through to sign-off. Nobody on your side should have to explain the loading bay situation three times to three different people, least of all at eight on a Saturday night.

Domestic and commercial under one roof

We run household removals alongside our commercial work, which matters more than it sounds. Relocating a director, clearing a company flat or moving a live-in premises can be handled by the same team on the same booking.

We just moved. Umar, Asad and Tan made everything look easy. They were fast and efficient, wearing a big smile throughout. They made a stressful situation a little less so. If you need to move, your first call should be to Elephant Removals! They are very good value.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Office Removals Questions

It depends mainly on desk count, access at both buildings, and when you want it done. Out-of-hours and weekend slots cost more than a weekday, and packing, crate hire and storage are priced separately. Send us your desk count and both addresses and we’ll give you a firm figure — or see our pricing page for indicative rates.

Both. A three-desk studio move gets the same planning as a fifty-desk relocation, just with fewer people and one vehicle. If you’re moving a handful of items rather than a whole office, our man and van service may be a better fit.

We do. Bench desking, partition screens, meeting tables, pedestals and storage units come apart at the old office and go back together at the new one. Give us a floor plan and we’ll rebuild everything in position rather than leaving you a stack of desk legs.

Four to six weeks is comfortable for most London offices. That leaves time for a survey, a parking bay suspension if one is needed, and a loading bay or goods lift booking with building management. Larger relocations benefit from longer. Short notice isn’t automatically a problem — ask and we’ll tell you honestly what’s available.

All of it, plus moves in and out of the city. We regularly work in the City of London, Canary Wharf, the West End and across north, south, east and west London. See areas we cover for the full list.

Yes, and most London office moves we do run outside normal working hours. Friday evening to Sunday is the most popular window because staff finish in one office and start in the other. Smaller offices often move in a single evening. Book early for month-end dates, they go first.

Yes. Every office move we carry out is fully insured — [£X public liability and £Y goods in transit] — covering your furniture, IT equipment and files while we’re handling and transporting them. If you have unusually high-value or specialist equipment, mention it when you request a quote so cover can be confirmed in advance. Building managers who require proof of insurance before allowing access can be sorted before the day.

We handle the physical side: unplugging, wrapping, boxing, transporting and setting equipment back on desks in the right places. Network configuration and server commissioning are best left to your own IT provider, and we’re happy to coordinate our timings with theirs so nobody’s waiting around.

Yes. If your new premises aren’t ready, or the fit-out is running behind, desks and archive boxes can go into storage and be delivered when you’re ready for them. It’s also useful for surplus furniture you haven’t decided about yet.

Office removals cover workplace relocations: desks, chairs, IT, meeting rooms and filing. Commercial removals is the broader service, covering shops, warehouses, studios and other business premises with stock, fixtures or equipment that isn’t standard office kit.
