SERVING TWICKENHAM AND ST MARGARETS, TW1 AND TW2
Twickenham Removals, Riverside To Whitton
Elephant Removals provides house removals, flat removals and office removals across Twickenham, St Margarets, Strawberry Hill, Whitton and Fulwell. We survey the property, check the parking zone your street sits in, and check the date against what is happening at the stadium before we quote a price.
REMOVALS IN TWICKENHAM
Planning For A Move in Twickenham
Twickenham kept a road pattern laid down in the 1630s, gained a stadium that closes three main routes on event days, and is currently rebuilding its riverside.
Two things decide how a Twickenham move runs, and neither is the property. The first is the stadium calendar. On event days the closures on Whitton, Rugby and London Roads go in roughly two hours before kick-off, and afterwards the roads north of the A316 clear in about ninety minutes while those south of it take nearer three. The second is the riverside build. Kier has cranes up on King Street and Water Lane until winter 2027, so construction traffic is part of every town centre load window.
We check both before quoting. Moving house across London from a Waldegrave Park villa and a man and van run out of a Crown Road conversion are priced differently, but they get planned the same way. We pick the load window first and the crew second.
AREAS COVERED
Areas We Cover In Twickenham
The six pockets we work in most, and what each one does to a moving day before anyone lifts a box.
Twickenham Riverside
King Street and Water Lane are live construction sites until winter 2027. Load windows down here are short, so we book them first.
St Margarets Village
Crown Road conversions and riverside mansion blocks. Lift bookings and porter hours get confirmed before the van leaves the yard.
Strawberry Hill
Waldegrave Road villas with deep staircases and wide half-landings, plus St Mary’s University driving term-time moves twice a year.
Whitton High Street
The closest residential streets to the stadium closures. Interwar semis with side access, so a Luton often parks off the main run.
Twickenham Green
Victorian terraces off Staines Road with hall widths that decide whether a sofa comes apart at the door or goes through the bay.
Fulwell And Heathfield
Nineteen-thirties semis with garages and side returns to load through, plus storage between moves when a chain slips.
HOUSING STOCK AND ACCESS
Riverside Villas To Interwar Semis
Four kinds of Twickenham property, and the thing that goes wrong on each one when the survey misses it.
Eel Pie Island Footbridge Access
Around fifty houses sit on the island and the only way on is the footbridge from Water Lane. No van reaches a front door. Everything crosses on foot or comes in by boat.
We measure the carry at survey, bring trolleys the bridge ramp will take, and split the load so nobody walks a wardrobe over the Thames at four in the afternoon.
Church Street Riverside Period Houses
Twickenham kept its seventeenth century street pattern, so Church Street and the lanes off it were never cut for a seven and a half tonne van. Kerb space gets measured in metres, not bays.
Where the street will not take the Luton we shuttle with a smaller vehicle, and we say at survey which part of the load needs it.
St Margarets Mansion Block Flats
The riverside blocks off St Margarets Road and the Crown Road conversions run on lift bookings and porter hours. Miss the slot and the crew carries everything up five flights.
We speak to the building manager first, get the lift window in writing, and bring specialist piano movers in where a stairwell turn will not take an upright.
Whitton And Fulwell Interwar Semis
Nineteen-thirties stock is the most straightforward housing in the borough to move out of, right up until a loft conversion leaves a bed frame on the wrong side of a tight turn at the top of the stairs.
We measure the landing at survey and dismantle upstairs rather than forcing a frame through a gap that marks the plaster.
PERMITS AND BAYS
Parking Suspensions And Loading Access In Twickenham
Richmond runs a longer notice period than most South West London boroughs and charges by zone tier rather than a flat rate per bay, so the street matters.
Your road sits in a lettered controlled parking zone, and the letter sets the daily bay charge. Twickenham’s zones spread across all three of Richmond’s tiers, so two moves a mile apart do not cost the same to permit. We check the zone at survey.
- Richmond asks for at least ten working days before a suspension starts. Its own application section still says seven, so we plan to follow the council's current parking suspension guidance.
- A bay runs about five metres. A full run of adjacent bays can only be suspended for a whole day, never for part of one.
- Suspensions are enforced at any hour, including outside the zone's controlled times, and the bay charges apply seven days a week.
- A suspension sign goes up three full days ahead. The council will not move a car parked in your bay, so blockers get reported to the enforcement contractor.

WHY ELEPHANT REMOVALS
How We Plan A Removal In Twickenham
We Survey Before We Quote
The price comes out of the survey, not a room count on a web form. If access changes on the day, a booked lift out of service or a blocked bay, you hear before the invoice.
Working London Since 2003
Elephant Removals has run South West London moves since 2003. We are based in SW London, so a Twickenham job is a straight run along the A316 rather than a trip across town.
Crews Who Know The Closures
We plan Twickenham dates around the fixture list instead of finding out the hard way. A Saturday international means an early load or a different day, and we say which at booking.
Insured And Fully Documented
Every move we run is insured. The inventory is written before the van is loaded rather than reconstructed from memory later, which is what matters if something needs claiming.

Common Questions
Twickenham Removals FAQs
Volume, access at both ends, whether a shuttle is needed, and whether your date lands on a stadium event day. We quote after the survey, so the figure reflects the actual job rather than a room count on a form. Tell us about the move to book a survey.
All of TW1 and TW2. That covers Twickenham Riverside and the town centre, St Margarets and East Twickenham, Strawberry Hill, Whitton, Twickenham Green and Heathfield, and Fulwell. Eel Pie Island too, though the footbridge means that one gets crewed differently.
Richmond asks for at least ten working days before the suspension starts, longer than several neighbouring boroughs. The sign goes up three days ahead and the council will not tow a car sitting in the bay. We check at survey whether your street needs one at all.
Yes, but the day gets built differently. The event day parking zone runs roughly 11am to 11pm and the closures go in about two hours before kick-off, with roads north of the A316 clearing faster afterwards. We load well before the zone starts, or move the date.
We do. On flat moves across London into the St Margarets blocks we confirm the goods lift window, porter hours and any communal floor protection in writing before the date is fixed. A verbal booking with a duty concierge is what tends to fall through.
Yes, mostly in the June and September peaks. Single rooms out of the Strawberry Hill halls, whole house shares off Waldegrave Road, and summer storage for anyone sitting on a tenancy gap rather than shipping everything home and back.
We shuttle. A smaller vehicle runs between the property and the Luton, which is routine on Church Street and unavoidable on Eel Pie Island, where the load crosses the footbridge on foot. It is priced at survey along with any full and partial packing, never added on the day.
Evenings and weekends both work, and for King Street or London Road premises they are the better option given the construction traffic. Our office moving service covers IT disconnection and reconnection so you open the next morning.
