REMOVALS ACROSS BATTERSEA, NINE ELMS AND ALL SW11
Battersea Removals, FROM Terraces To Towers
Elephant Removals moves families, sharers and businesses across Battersea, from Victorian terraces off Lavender Hill to riverside towers in Nine Elms. Different buildings bring different access, parking and lift requirements, so we plan each move around the property.
BATTERSEA'S PROPERTY MIX
Why Moving in Battersea Can Be Two Different Jobs
Battersea sits inside Wandsworth, covering SW11 and a slice of SW8. Few parts of London ask two such different things of a single removals crew.
The grid between Wandsworth Common and Clapham Common is dense Victorian terrace, and a lot of it has been split into two or three flats behind one front door. The staircase turns twice before the first landing. Whether a sofa goes up whole is a measuring question, so we check that turn and the doorframes before we price a full house removal.
North of Battersea Park Road it is a different trade entirely. Circus West Village, the Switch House and Electric Boulevard run booked goods lift windows and separate service entrances, so the constraint is the calendar rather than the stairs. We make those calls once your date is fixed, because losing a lift slot costs you the afternoon. Flat moves across London rarely hang on paperwork this much.
AREAS COVERED
Areas We Cover In Battersea
Six neighbourhoods, six completely different loading problems. Here is what we establish before the van leaves the yard.
Between The Commons
Family terraces with side-return extensions that pinch the hall, which is where large furniture needs planning rather than force.
Battersea Power Station
Circus West, the Switch House and Electric Boulevard each run their own lift booking and service entrance rules. We confirm yours first.
Nine Elms Riverside
Riverside towers with concierge desks and timed bays, plus the offices behind them that keep our commercial removals in London crew busy.
Clapham Junction
St John’s Hill and Falcon Road carry traffic constantly, so loading generally happens from a quieter residential street immediately behind.
Battersea Park Road
Interwar mansion blocks facing the park. Generous rooms inside, narrow communal stairs, and porters who want notice well before the day.
Shaftesbury Park Estate
A conservation area of late Victorian cottages on a tight grid. Attractive streets, remarkably little room for a long wheelbase vehicle.
HOUSING STOCK AND ACCESS
Access And Property Considerations
Four property types cover most of Battersea, and each fails in its own particular fashion whenever the day gets planned wrongly.
Victorian Terraces And Conversions
Most terraces off Lavender Hill and Battersea Rise are now two or three flats behind a single communal staircase. That first turn is the tightest point in the building, and it effectively decides the day.
We measure it during the survey, establish what comes apart, and bring packing and materials for anything requiring boxing beforehand.
Riverside Towers And New Builds
Power Station and Nine Elms apartments are straightforward to carry and complicated to schedule. Goods lifts operate in booked windows, service entrances sit apart, and several buildings permit weekday moves only.
We confirm your particular window in writing beforehand, then organise the running order around whatever the building actually allows.
Nineteen Thirties Mansion Blocks
The red brick blocks along Battersea Park Road and Prince of Wales Drive have generous ceilings and correspondingly heavy furniture. Older lifts rarely accommodate a wardrobe, so the communal staircase does the work.
Banisters, carpet and lift interiors get covered before anything moves. Otherwise you receive a letter from the managing agent.
Estate Blocks And Walkway Access
Winstanley, Doddington and Patmore contain blocks where the lift is small, occasionally unavailable, and considerably further from legal parking than anybody expects. The route inside is manageable once understood.
We walk it beforehand and establish with the estate office exactly where the vehicle stands, so nobody improvises afterwards.
PERMITS AND BAYS
Wandsworth Permits And Loading Access In Batterse
A removal van cannot use a resident permit, so on almost every Battersea street the van needs a suspended bay or it needs to be somewhere else.
Wandsworth runs the parking side for all of Battersea, and the notice period is what catches people out. We tell you at survey whether your street needs a suspension, a waiver or nothing at all, and how to apply for it.
- Applications need seven clear working days. The day you submit does not count, and weekends and bank holidays are excluded from the total.
- Anything filed after 3pm is treated as arriving the next working day, which quietly removes a day from an already tight window.
- Suspensions are charged per bay per day, with a separate application fee that is not refunded if your moving date shifts.
- Battersea Park runs an events programme that closes roads near Queenstown Road and Prince of Wales Drive on some weekends, so we check the calendar against your date.

Based In South West London
Our yard sits in south west London, minutes from Battersea rather than an hour across town. The crew arrives fresh and the vehicle is not already half loaded.
Moving Battersea Since 2003
Trading here since 2003 means whoever turns up has almost certainly done your street before. Who we are has stayed small and local throughout all of it.

Common Questions
Battersea Removals FAQs
It depends on the property, the access at both ends and how much is going. A conversion flat off Battersea Rise and a four-bedroom house near the park are different jobs. We quote after the survey, so the price reflects the actual work. Tell us about the move and a figure follows.
